Bathroom Reveal

Hello!

If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook, you would have seen some Bathroom renovation progress shots, sneak peaks and footage in my insta stories.

I can finally announce- it is complete!! Yahhoo!!!
There’s no better feeling than finishing a huge project and having it exceed your expectations.
Here is a complete breakdown of our modern, quirky bathroom renovation.

If you remember back to the beginning ‘Our planning stages’- I wanted a unique, fresh bathroom which flows on from the quirky kitchen transformation.
As we have just the one bathroom in our medium sized two bedroom home, it was a huge ‘must’ that we make the most of the space and utilise it for its maximum potential.

I started with a mood board, as I always do for every project I under take.
It’s great to have a vision and a guide of the desired end goal.
Plus (most importantly)- it makes a pretty photo…. Haha.

So, to me the vision clear-

    •    remove the old small ugly vanity that was squished in the corner under the window
    •    take avenge of all the wasted space in the corner of the bathroom (this is the first thing you see when you entered… why have it dull and boring??
    •    make the shower as large as possible, well duh!
    •    put my quirky stamp on the room, because life’s more fun with patterns, textures and colours.
    •    tie it in with the renovations completed to the home thus far. #yougottahaveflowyaknow

Here is a few looks into the finished bathroom!!

Cabinet & Benchtop

I’ve always wanted a home with a bamboo top kitchen.
However, with our Flooring Xtra ‘FAST FIT’ vinyl flooring throughout the rest of the home,
I thought it would be too overpowering to have a Bamboo top in our not so huge kitchen (so I opted for a Stone top bench).
When it was time to complete the selections for the bathroom, I couldn’t go past introducing Highgrove Bamboo timber top teamed up with the hexagon floors.

My talented dad (aka Papa darm) a cabinet maker by trade built this vanity based on a rough (I mean really rough) sketch I drew. We used Laminex ‘Polar White Silk Finish’ to make up the bottom half of the cabinetry (to match in with the kitchen cupboards) and the black cabinetry knobs from Bunnings.

I personally think, and I'm sure all of you would agree- a bank of drawers is a must when it comes to any bathroom. I requested 2 large ones in lieu of 3 small ones. (I have to have space for my straightener and hair dryer!)

So very happy with the customised vanity! Would love to know your thoughts.

Tiles selection

I’m stilling crushing over my selection from National tiles, not to toot my own horn, but I think the combo is quirky (there goes that word again), affordable and super modern.
It may not be everyone’s taste, but life would be pretty boring if everyone liked the same thing right?

Budget wise, all of the tiles were very affordable-

SPAFL2000 Hexatile Nero Matt 175X200 $89.95 per m2
MAXWL2731 Gloss white 200X200 $17.95 per m2
BELWP100 Gloss white rectified 300X600 $9.95 per m2

I wanted something different than the rectangle subway tile look.
I love this take on using the square tile in the brick bond pattern, I’m also obsessed with having a contrast between the grout and the tile. It adds so much character!

Which leads me to the hexagon tile, what a beauty!
I opted for the black, to tie in with the anthracite grout we used with the white tile.
The hexatile is also available in white and cement grey.
In this case, I love the boldness of the black and wanted to tie in the black and chrome tapware.
With every personal (non-client based job) renovation I do, I tend to leave my mark, seems to be a pattern with hexagon tiles featured somewhere throughout.

My tile selection adds personality to a once dull, un-thought-out bathroom.

Shower, black trim, shower frames, tapware & basin

I opted for Black and Chrome tapware and accessories, I was wanting something unique.
Luckily I came across the Castano end of the range ‘Piera tapware & accessories’. As they were the end of the line/discontinuing this I got them at a reduced rate, winner winner!

When it came to selecting a shower, it was easy, without a doubt I knew I wanted an ‘open plan shower’. Now this may not be everyone’s choice, but, put me down for less cleaning!
The other added bonuses are- no shower enclosures, tracks & frames, plus, it makes the entire bathroom look a million times bigger. Why wouldn’t ya?!

My dad came up with an awesome idea… the black trim along the top of the tiles..
This is another ‘wowfactor! This completely changes the look of the whole room.
I’d have to say, this is the master piece that brings it all together. What a genius!

Accessories/Styling

The icing on the cake, the cherry on the sundae! Mmm sundae.

Well, I must say- it definitely helped being a member of the Adair’s linen lover club.
Who doesn’t love a spring sale discount?

We opted for his & her towels in the Scallop velour range,
I just love this art deco pattern!
The pink obviously is mine, he-he.

I picked up these Marble & Timber large round wallhooks from adairs at a discounted rate of $19.95 each. Again, these were being discontinued, I was lucky to pick up the last two.
I love me a bargain!

They’re fun and I wanted something different to your standard towel rails.

When planning the bathroom- I knew we had to have robe hooks or wall hooks down the end of the new large open shower.

The Kmart round mirror above the vanity was an affordable addition to this room. Custom mirrors can get quite expensive.  I know round mirrors are quite popular at the moment and I loved the idea of a round mirror on the square tiles.

HNM home brought in the affordable goods with the tooth brush holder and white oval soap tray. Kmart for the small $4 soap dish, you can’t go wrong with that!
I found these his and hers bamboo toothbrushes on ebay for $4 each.

I’m sure by now you have popped in to the new Pillowtalk stores … if you haven’t, get your butt there and check it out.
I felt the need to bring in a pop of colour with their blue glass vase, and of course- a touch of greenery to suit.

In the name of supporting small business’s- I purchased these handmade soaps from a beautiful gold coast based Instagram account by the name of Aimee Evelyn (Hand poured soy candles & home wares)- if only you could smell this deliciousness through the net!

Huge thank you to pretty little things- for the most amazing labels and products, just so happy with how gorgeous and organised these Shampoo, Conditioner & Body wash ‘Pump Bottles & Labels’ are. They completely transform the shower... I never thought that having beautiful organised shower products could be a thing, until I came across her account. Good bye ugly and unmatched bottles, hello clean, simple and organised shower products.

Well, another room renovation complete. I love to watch it all come to life from planning to purchasing, to construction then styling.

I'm so very happy with the final vibe of the bathroom, it feels so quirky, modern, fresh and weirdly enough, a whole lot bigger than before.
Thanks for letting me share and for taking interest in my bathroom renovation.
You know me, busy, busy busy. So laundry renovation is up next!!
